A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION
Ignatius Ajuru University of Education is not a private university but a public institution by Rivers State Government. The university was established in October 2009 from Rivers State College of Education which was in existence since 1970. Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has seven faculties, of which Faculty of Education is the mother faculty as the name implies. The faculty is headed by the Dean, Prof. Livinus Ogbondah and Associate Dean, Dr.(Mrs.) Love Nwamadi-Wosu.
There are twelve (12) departments in faculty which include: –

VISION OF THE FACULTY
Ignatius Ajuru University of Education is envisioned as the most suitably structural, resourceful and mandated institution with potentials for engendering sustaining and refining through all foreseeable educational future for Rivers State, Nigeria and the international community. It is the vision of this Faculty of Education to be rated/ranked among the best faculty in Africa in the provision of quality manpower, leadership, ground-breaking research, innovation, knowledge transfer and global visibility.
MISSION OF THE FACULTY
The mission of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education is therefore to justifiably acquire and accountably utilize all the needful input resources for realizing through pre-service preparation and sustaining through in-service training and retraining, proficient manpower in its core mandate and related disciplines, that is characterized by ethical maturity at work, innovation entrepreneurship, robust inter-personal and industrial relations. It is the mission of the Faculty of Education to nurture a teaching and learning community, advance frontiers of knowledge, encourage knowledge sharing, engender sense of selfless public service and promote teamwork, culture of integrity and add value to teacher education.
